Burgtec

Founded in 2004 by former World Cup downhill racer Dan Critchlow, along with schoolmate Dave Barton and later Richard Bourgoin. They aimed to build better gear out of personal riding experience. The first product, the Penthouse flat pedal (Mk1), was assembled in a kitchen and targeted better grip, internals, and durability than existing offerings. By 2007, they introduced the Ride Wide 750 mm handlebar, helping pioneer wider cockpit standards in the sport. Their philosophy is “quality over quantity” — engineered by riders, for riders. Burgtec have built up their reputation for durability, precision manufacturing and reliable customer service. Burgtec still remain integral in the UK World cup race scenes, working along side pro athletes such as Josh Brycland, Brage Vestavik and Matt Walker for product feedback and advancements.
