We sat down with Fensham-Howes MAS Design rider, Seb Grindley ahead of the 2024 Road Cycling World Championships to find out how he got his start in cycling and his new found love for sriracha!

How did you get started cycling?
I got into cycling through my dad. He used to be an Olympic runner and went into cycling after his athletics career ended as a hobby. When he started racing me and my family came along to watch and it interested me so once I was old enough I started to race myself in the younger races.

What have you learnt whilst riding for FH Mas design?
Since joining FH-MAS Design I have become much more organised. Going on the race trips so often, you learn how to pack correctly and organise yourself because it is quite important especially when doing stage racing.

Where is your favourite place to ride?
In the UK, I like going into the Peak District. It isn’t super close, maybe an hour ride with a tailwind but it’s one of the only places I can ride on some good climbs and in a very scenic area.

Has anyone inspired you to ride? (Parents/mates/pros etc)
Obviously my parents have inspired me but also older pros like Peter Sagan. I used to be a really big fan of him when I first started watching cycling and when he went onto win the 3x World Road Race Champs in a row it was a big inspiration for me. I got the chance to ride with him when I was doing a recon of the World Champs RR in Glasgow last year and he was a really nice guy too so that has really stuck with me.

What’s your favourite piece of kit?
Our Scott bikes would be an obvious one but one item I do really like is the overshoes and aero socks we receive from Spatzwear. They look mint. Off the bike, I also wear the Dry Mango cap quite a lot cause I think it looks pretty nice so I had to mention that too!

What’s your favourite post ride meal?
After a ride, I will eat anything. I have no go to meal in mind but I do find myself having eggs on toast with sriracha a lot recently.
